Mehmet Yalchin

Mehmet is currently the Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) clinical research fellow, working on numerous clinical trials and focusing mainly on faecal microbiota transplantation.

Mehmet completed his medical training at University College London in 2010. He also graduated with an intercalated Bachelor of Science in History of Medicine in 2007.

His foundation and core medical training were completed in North London and East of England deaneries respectively, and then went on to complete a year as a Clinical Fellow in Neuroendocrine Tumours at the Royal Free Hospital in 2014-2015. Mehmet was awarded his national training number in Gastroenterology in 2015 in the North East London deanery. He has completed 3 years of higher specialist training before taking up his research post at St Mark’s Hospital in September 2018.

Mehmet is currently the Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) clinical research fellow, working on numerous clinical trials and focusing mainly on faecal microbiota transplantation. Mehmet’s PhD will focus on surveillance in Ulcerative Colitis (UC), by conducting comprehensive genomic sampling of the colon and mapping evolutionary dynamics in patients with dysplasia. With a view to hopefully impact the way we conduct surveillance and resections in patients with UC. Mehmet’s supervisors are Professor Ailsa Hart and Professor Trevor Graham.
