Orestis is a higher trainee in General and Colorectal Surgery in the North-West London Deanery, currently Out Of Programme for Research, undertaking a PhD on Restorative Surgery for Ulcerative Colitis, under the supervision of Mr Kapil Sahnan and Professor Ailsa Hart.

His interests and research are focusing on patient comprehension and involvement in complex decision-making around restorative surgery, innovation in information delivery and communication, and improvement of UC pathways to deliver PROM-driven care.

Orestis obtained his primary medical qualification in Ioannina, Greece, in 2014. He has completed a MSc in Medical Education, at the University of Liverpool.
He undertook Foundation Training in the Northern Deanery (2016-2017), and Core Surgical Training in the Mersey Sector of the North-West Deanery (2017-2020). He completed 3 years of Higher Surgical Training (ST3-ST5) in North-West London, prior to starting his research post at St Marks in October 2023.
